About 25 km from Dhaka. Mr. National Memorial is located at Nabi Nagar in Savar Thana. One of the reasons for choosing this place was that many mass graves were discovered here after the independence of the country. This memorial was built to commemorate the Bangladesh Independence War. Among the 84 acres of land acquired, there are about 64 acres of green land. The memorial has been built on an area of 40 acres. On the first Victory Day in December 1972, Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman laid the foundation stone. The construction of the monument was completed in August 1982. Architect Moinul Hossain designed the main structure of the National Memorial. The main building consists of 7 triangular pillars made of concrete, which gradually rise from smaller to taller. Its height is 150 feet. The first pillar is the smallest in height and the largest in width. This is referred to as the beginning of the movement i.e. the language movement of 1952. The subsequent columns refer to 1954, 1958, 1962, 1966, 1969 and 1971 respectively. The victory of the liberation war is represented by the highest pillar. The characteristic of this monument is that it seems to have a different shape from each direction. It is not just a memorial. It is a complete complex. It has attractive wide entrance, good parking facilities. On both sides of the entrance there are various types of flowering plants and artificial water bodies, where the memorial images are reflected. There are also open-air stages, bridges, flower gardens, reception centers and helipads, mosques, restaurants, and a lovely greenery. Various types of fruits, forest and medicinal plants can be seen in this forest. A wonderful example of modern architectural design, people flock to see this monument throughout the year from morning to evening.
